Ravenswold II

Bainbridge Island, WA
The garden began about ten years ago as a "blank slate" with lawns and native plants (Salal, rhododendrons, and maple and cedar trees). It has developed into four areas: the entry path, the living area, the transition garden, and the large street-side section, which once was all lawn and is now a low-water, low-maintenance garden. Plants have been chosen for their year-round interest, variety of color, and texture. Most of the annuals and perennials are concentrated in the patio/living area. The property is surrounded by large maples and cedars, creating an interesting challenge in plant selection.
Directions: From the Bainbridge Island ferry, follow the highway for about 3 miles. Watch for the sign "Meadowmeer Golf and Country Club, Bainbridge Athletic Club." Take the next left, Koura Road, and turn right at the club entrance. Follow the main road past the golf course and around the traffic island. Look for the parking signs.
From the west (Poulsbo area), follow the signs to Bainbridge and after the first traffic light look for the sign "Meadowmeer Golf and Country Club, Bainbridge Athletic Club." Take the next right, Koura Road, and turn right at the club entrance. Follow the main road past the golf course and around the traffic island. Look for the parking signs.
