Beaulieu-Lupacchino Gardens

Around a Georgian Revival-style house with a lake view, this garden is a blend of formal structure and informal planting common with its English counterparts. Entering the yard up the granite and pea stone walk, visitors will arrive at the owner’s Memorial Garden, framed by clipped boxwoods. Note the espaliered Japanese pear and Gravenstein apple trees that flank the front door, as well as the pyracanthas and false kiwis that climb the iron trellises between the windows. The main garden begins to the right, under the first arbor and heading past the antique garden figures representing the seasons.

Visitors will walk through over 100-feet of sun and part-shade-tolerant perennial beds that feature Rudbeckia maxima, massive Rodgersia, Cimicifuga, grasses, and Persicaria. Walking to the left up the tapestry bordered path, visitors can choose to rest on the stone patio or visit the conservatory, or do both. The sound of water draws visitors to the small formal pond to the left of the conservatory, filled with water lilies. Head up to the shade gardens with ferns, hostas, ligularias, and lady’s mantles that flank the stone walks. Be sure to look up to admire a climbing hydrangea embracing the massive oak. Circle around the back raised-wall garden and exit down the driveway.
