Cousins' Garden

Rumson, NJ
At the suggestion of their daughter Michele, Michael and Jill Sullivan created Cousins' Garden on their one-acre property in Rumson as a way for their ten grandchildren to garden together and give back to the local community. The cousins weed and harvest fruits and vegetables in 120 raised beds. Their first year, the cousins contributed 6,500 pounds of produce to Lunch Break, a soup kitchen in nearby Red Bank. "It's given much more back to us than we put in," Michael says of the project. Renee Mongiovi of Oasis Backyard Gardens in Colts Neck, New Jersey, designed the attractive layout.
