Eleanor Cabot Bradley Estate

Canton, MA
Once a colonial farmstead known as Cherry Hill Farm, the Bradley Estate was transformed in 1902 into a classic country estate. Dr. Arthur Tracey Cabot hired noted architect Charles Platt to design a great house, landscaped grounds, and a complex of farm and estate buildings. Platt adorned the lovely natural setting with manicured lawns, a walled garden, and a brick-edged parterre garden. In 1945, Cabot's niece Eleanor Cabot Bradley acquired Cherry Hill Farm and lived there with her husband until its bequest to The Trustees of Reservations in 1991. Mrs. Bradley made some notable additions to the property, including a greenhouse and a studio. Today, the Trustees' Bradley Estate is open to the public and offers a variety of workshops, concerts, and other special events throughout the year.
A guided tour of the Bradley Estate will be offered at 12:00 p.m., rain or shine. Mrs. Bradley's Formal Garden has recently been planted with a stunning display of spring and summer bulbs, including varieties that Eleanor Cabot Bradley had in her garden when she lived here. This spring, stroll through over 5,000 tulips and other spring bulbs, and come back in the summer to take a break among the 500 lilies (ten varieties) that were particular favorites of Eleanor, and will stand tall among the fragrant roses and perennials in the Formal Garden.
