Digging Deeper: Spirit of Place - SOLD OUT
Garden of Bill Noble
Sat, Jul 10, 2021
5:00 PM- 7:00 PM
How does a garden relate to the larger landscape? How does it connect to the natural and cultural environment that surrounds it? How does it evoke a sense of place, while also being a personal expression? In this workshop, Susan and Bill will try to answer these questions by exploring the principles that helped shape the making of the garden, which was the subject of Bill's book, Spirit of Place: The Making of a New England Garden.
Almost thirty years ago, garden designer and preservationist Bill Noble and designer Susan Howard began working with a farmstead that had been farmed and gardened for decades. Inspired by gardens of the nearby Cornish Artists’ Colony, as well as other historic and contemporary gardens, the garden gradually took shape as a place to experiment with a variety of garden styles and plants acquired through specialty plant nurseries.
