Frog Hollow Hill
Rydal, PA
Garden structure/sculpture, Water feature, Alpine/rock garden, Fruit/vegetables, Substantial native plants, Woodland/shade garden
The owners of this garden have a love of early modern “glass box” architecture, and, after a long search, they found this 1949 home designed by architect Arthur White that offers the opportunity to feel as if you were living within the garden, from every room. After purchasing the property in the summer of 2015, the owners had a blank slate from which to start. First efforts on the property were scrub tree removal followed by extensive planting of trees and shrubs to screen the surrounding homes in time.
Multiple garden rooms have been created within the 0.75-acre lot, further extending the indoor/outdoor connection of the home. Each of the garden areas has been designed around a piece from the owners’ sculpture collection.
