Highview
North Salem, NY
Meadow, Water feature, Fruit/vegetables, Organic/toxin-free, Scenic view, Woodland/shade garden
The ascending driveway leads from woodlands to meadows, and arrives at an expansive view encompassing over 30 miles. Amid hidden patio gardens, a tower with a circular staircase offers breathtaking views of the Titicus Reservoir and distant Berkshire hills. Abundant grasses surround the contemporary shingle-style house. The outdoor spaces are designed for entertaining, with kitchen patio beds planted with hydrangea and lavender. A poolside garden is bordered by hostas and perennials under specimen trees and features a pergola-covered dining area with tropical plants and an outdoor shower.
Outside the guest quarters, another seating area is bordered with panicled hydrangeas and pollinator-favorite perennials. Amid meadows, there is a vegetable and cutting garden, a swing among 'Snowdrift' crabapples with views to the north and west, and a bench by a koi pond. The house and garden have been featured in Bedford and Ridgefield magazines.
