Our goal is for Hortus to be a “living textbook” of plant life that can be grown in the Hudson Valley. We began the process of creating a botanical garden/arboretum by planting native trees, shrubs, perennials, and unusual edible plants. In 2001 we began recording what we planted with detailed plant tags. In 2017 we received Level II Accreditation by the ArbNet Arboretum Accreditation Program and the Morton Arboretum. As a young botanical garden/arboretum, our goal is to grow the largest diversity of plant life in the Hudson Valley accessible to the general public. www.hortusgardens.org
