Round House Gardens
East Hampton, NY
Meadow, Garden structure/sculpture, Fruit/vegetables, Organic/toxin-free, Substantial native plants, Woodland/shade garden, Water feature
Round House and its gardens were built and developed by Jack Lenor Larsen with input and help from a large number of leading garden and Arts & Crafts designers. Over the last 30 years Judy and Ennius Bergsma have significantly built and expanded on the original vision.
The size of the garden, 10 acres, allows for great diversity while using “mass” plantings and two ponds to create serenity. It is a “multi room” contemplative garden with an exceptional array of great trees: one of the first China Metasequoias propagated at the Arnold Arboretum in 1949, a spectacular fern leaf beach, large copper beaches, a large Auracaria auracana (monkey puzzle), columnar maples, umbrella pine and many other trees.
