Furthermoor

Furthermoor overlooks a 100-acre panorama that spans verdant green fairways, the Maidstone clubhouse, Hook Pond, and the ocean—one of the finest views on the South Fork. The stucco house with sun-bleached oak timber facade, wide brick chimney, dormers, and low oak-mullioned windows is reminiscent of the vernacular cottage style houses built a century ago by the British architect Sir Edwin Lutyens throughout England. The modest entrance court is bordered by a long perennial bed in a riot of color including hollyhocks, lilies, daisies and Perovskia. There is no hint of the surprise in store when you take the grass path to the right around to the back terrace. As you look down the lawn, the view takes your breath away. The sunsets are spectacular.
