Radler’s Rosarium
Greenfield, WI
Meadow, Water feature, Garden structure/sculpture, Rare plants/plant collection, Woodland/shade garden
Will Radler is the developer of the popular Knock Out® series of roses. A portion of his garden is dedicated to the business of developing and testing new roses. The aptly named “boot camp” contains more than 2000 roses in neatly spaced rows. The unsuspecting garden visitor would have no idea that each of these roses is being scrutinized for hardiness, disease resistance, pests, drought tolerance, plus beauty and fragrance.
The rest of the two-acre garden is extensively landscaped with many interesting and unusual trees, perennials, and shrubs, plus a reconstructed prairie. The grounds feature gazebos, arbors, a large stone fireplace, an outdoor shower, unique statuary, and glass towers. The three-story shed has a spiral staircase leading to a lookout tower on the third floor that offers a must-see view. All of this is tied together with a meandering stream, waterfalls, and ponds full of tame goldfish.
